UNIVERSITY PARK | Good health and useful information are the themes of the panel discussion and community resource fair sponsored by the Southland Human Services Leadership Council at Governors State University from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. 

The event includes a panel discussion, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, on the Affordable Care Act, “What you really need to know.” Panelists include Melissa Akinlawon, of Ever Thrive Illinois; Jeff Joy, of IlliniCare Health Plan; Karen Brach, of Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Verlon Johnson, CMS associate regional administrator in the Medicaid Division.

The resource fair includes information and services from various service providers. Enrollment services in the Affordable Care Act will be provided as well as flu shots, HIV testing, legal counseling, tax services, transportation services and much more.

The resource fair and panel discussion are free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by Southland Human Services Leadership Council, South-Southwest Suburban United Way, HUB Relief and Illini Care Health Plan.
