UNIVERSITY PARK | Lightwire Theater presents "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Tortoise and The Hare" at 2 p.m. Sunday as part of GSU’s Family Fun series giving a modern upgrade to a pair of classic tales, Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling" and Aesop's fable, "The Tortoise and The Hare."

Lightwire Theater teams up with Corbian Visual Arts and Dance to bring their use of cutting edge technology, moving sculpture and dance to a theatrical experience. Lined with electroluminescent wire, actors illuminate the darkened stage. There will be puppetry, modern light technology, choreography, and music ranging from classical to jazz to pop.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children.

The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday from and two hours prior to performances. For further information, contact the box office at or (708) 235-2222.

GSU Center is located on the campus of Governors State University, 1 University Parkway. Parking is free.

Programs at Center for Performing Arts are made possible in part by a grant from The Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
