UNIVERSITY PARK | The Three Divas bring their spectacular vocal talents to Governors State University Center for Performing Arts at 4 p.m. Sunday, the university has announced.

Desiree Hassler, Pamela Williams, and Joanne Jennett will present a program worthy of their name, with each trying to outdo the next.

The Three Divas is the latest offering in GSU Center’s popular “Opera Up Close” series, which provides a unique musical experience for audience members. Instead of experiencing the music from the perspective of the auditorium, patrons at “Opera Up Close” are seated onstage for an unforgettable vantage point as superb artists perform some of the world’s most beautiful music. Refreshments, including delicious Viennese-style desserts, are also available during the show.

Soprano Desiree Hassler sings in the full-time chorus at Lyric Opera of Chicago, where she has also sung and covered roles in “Manon,” “Macbeth,” “Boris Godunov,” “Show Boat” and “Elektra.” Soprano Joanne Jennett recently performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago chorus in “Show Boat,” “Aida,” “Boris Godunov,” “Lohengrin,” and “Porgy and Bess.” Mezzo-Soprano Pamela Williams is a full-time member of the Lyric Opera chorus, where she has performed and understudied roles in “Elektra,” “Show Boat,” “Lohengrin,” “Turnadot,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” and other operas. The Three Divas will be joined by veteran accompanist Christopher Wheeler.
