Concert | Lansing
The Kappelle Choir from Concordia University will perform at 7:30 tonight at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Ave. They will perform works in celebration of the Christian reformation and All Saints Day. An offering will be collected.

Blood drive | Chicago Heights
Heartland Blood Centers will have a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. today at St. James Hospital Health Center, 1423 Chicago Road. Royal breakfast | Calumet City
Little princes and princesses ages 3 to 8 will feel like royalty at the Calumet Memorial Park District's Royal Breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 8. Participants will make their own craft crowns and will dine on French toast with sausage. Dressing up is optional, but encouraged. Registration is required. The fee is $10 per participant. Fitness seminar | Hammond
In anticipation of its Nov. 9 Fall Frolic four-mile run, Purdue University Calumet's Fitness Center will host the seminar, What You Need to Know with Two Weeks to Go, at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 in Room 129 of the university's Fitness & Recreation Center. The seminar, presented by Purdue Calumet Fitness Center Coordinator and veteran distance runner John Bobalik, will provide an overview of what runners/walkers should know about training, nutrition and other preparation for the Nov. 9 race. The run/walk will take place through the neighborhood around the Purdue Calumet campus. Handouts will be provided.

Ingalls hospice program offers Hope, Help & Healing, a free bereavement support group. This group is designed to provide both education and support for adults who have experienced a significant loss. Weekly and monthly meetings are available for individuals and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Lansing Public Library and Friends of Lansing Public Library accepts donations of used adult and children's books, audio books and music for its book sales. They cannot accept Reader's Digest condensed books, magazines, encycopedias more than five years old or books with mold or mildew.

VENDOR FAIR | Munster
HOPE for the Holidays, a shopping event to help support the fight against breast cancer, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Munster Community Park Social Center, 8751 Lions Club Drive. Vendors selling candles, gourmet foods, wine, jewelry, purses, personal care, spa products and many other items will be on hand. They all have committed to donate a portion of their proceeds to the AVON Walk For Breast Cancer.

QUILTING BEE | Hobart
The final quilting bee of the season will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at Deep River County Park in Wood's Historic Grist Mill, 9410 Old Lincoln Hwy. Visit with the Deep River Quilters as they work on the current quilt or sit with them and put in your own stitches. Quilts made since 1979 are on exhibit.

Beautification project | Hammond
The Hammond Lions Club and Hammond Parks & Recreation have teamed up to work on a beautification project for the Hammond Civic Center. The Hammond Lions Club recently did a donation planting at the Jean Shepherd Community Center and has agreed to do another donation planting for the Hammond Civic Center from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 25 in front of the building at 5825 S. Sohl Ave. Volunteers are needed.

Fall Fest | Gary
St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic parish, 6060 Miller Ave., is offering a fall fest chili meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26. The Neuter Scooter will offer discount spay and neuter surgery to cats only in Crown Point on Oct. 28 and in Hammond on Oct. 29. Exact location will be given when appointment is made. The Neuter Scooter is a low-cost mobile spay/neuter clinic. Appointments are $40 in advance and $50 on the day of the clinic. A free rabies vaccine is included.
