GARY | Nicolas Smith intends to major in criminal justice at Indiana University, and he came to the IUN campus to learn more about career options, requirements and financial aid.
Smith was one of 150 juniors and seniors from across Northwest Indiana who attended Academic College Experience Day at the IUN campus Friday.
Students had an opportunity to experience an academic atmosphere and participate in seminars on a variety of different subjects, including opportunities in radiologic sciences, careers in business and teaching.
Smith, a Merrillville High School senior, intends to begin his college career at IUN, then transfer to the Bloomington campus with plans to become an attorney.
Courtney Alexander, a Hobart High School junior, is interested in nursing and tried to hit all of the health-related seminars.
Linda Templeton, IUN Admission director, said this is the university's 32nd year offering the college experience day.
Of the number of students who attend each year, she estimated that 50 percent choose IUN for their undergraduate degrees.
