Taste of Cross of Christ

CROWN POINT | Taste of Cross of Christ is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 99 S. County Line Road. The new cookbook will be on sale and there will be a holiday trash and treasure sale featuring gently used Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. Children and Adult Halloween Parties

WHITING | St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church invites children and adults to dress as a Holy Saint or an Infamous Sinner and win prizes at 2002 Davidson Place. The children's party from noon to 4 p.m. will include cash prizes for best costumes at 3:30 p.m. Activities will be directed by Dynamic Music. An All Saints Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. with live music from Valparaiso's Grammy contender Keenan Baxter on keyboards. Baxter will feature music from popular movies, some popular rock songs, and his own jazz and blues originals. The adults' party begins at 7 p.m. with cash prizes for costumes selected at 9 p.m. There will be a DJ for dancing, a cash bar for wine and beer and food will be available for purchase. Trunk or Treat and more

MERRILLVILLE | First Presbyterian Church of Merrillville's annual Trunk-or-Treat will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. in the church parking lot, 7898 Taft St. Children will be trick-or-treating around the trunks of the cars in the parking lot, having cider and popcorn and having fun playing a few games. Time Warp Family Fun Fest

CEDAR LAKE | Gateway Christian Fellowship will hold a Time Warp Family Fun Fest at 10728 W. 133rd Ave. Experience the time warp — enjoy the life-size maze, games, cup-stacking and candy. ST. JOHN | Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church will host Fabulous Fall Festival from noon to 2 p.m. at 9770 Keilman St. There will be Trunks-or-Treats and a hot dog and chili lunch. Citywide Reformation Service

GARY | Celebrating the 495th anniversary of Martin Luther's posting of the 95 theses that outlined his concerns and issues related to the Roman Catholic Church, the Gary Area Lutheran Association is hosting a Citywide Reformation Service. The Rev. B. Keith Haney, mission facilitator of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, will be the featured speaker from 2 to 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 719 W. 25th Ave. People of all denominations are invited to attend. Halloween Carnival and Trunk-or-Treat

MUNSTER | Ridge United Methodist Church will host a fun, safe Halloween celebration for kids of all ages from 4 to 6 p.m. at 8607 Columbia Ave. The carnival will begin at 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Children through fifth grade can dress up, play games and win prizes. While the kids are inside, grown-up kids will decorate cars in the parking lot and have treats ready for Trunk-or-Treat at 5 p.m. Families are asked to bring nonperishable food items to donate to local food pantries. PORTAGE | St. Peter Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Trunk-or-Treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. at 6540 Central Ave. Children can enjoy a safe and fun experience, trick or treating from the trunks of designated cars in the church's parking lot. CROWN POINT | Church of the Four Seasons will host its annual Trunk-or-Treat event from 4 to 7 p.m. at 9100 E. 109th Ave. Kids and families are invited to enjoy this free pumpkin-themed event with trunk-or-treating, games, crafts, free food and a kid's costume contest. Immanuel Lutheran Trunk R' Treat

VALPARAISO | The second annual Trunk R' Treat will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church's parking lot, 1700 Monticello Park Drive. Immanuel families decorate the trunks of their cars and then children trick-or-treat from car-to-car. There will be free popcorn, hot chocolate, crafts and games. All Hallows Eve Blessing of Trick or Treaters

GRIFFITH | St. Mary Church in Griffith will host its annual blessing of trick-or-treaters at 4 p.m. at 525 N. Broad St. Children dressed in costume, accompanied by an adult, are invited to come for a special blessing by St. Mary pastor the Rev. Theodore Mens before going trick-or-treating. Trunk-O-Treat

HAMMOND | The First United Methodist Church will hold trick-or-treating for all neighborhood children from 5 to 7 p.m. at 6635 Hohman Ave. Call (219) 932-5915.

Light the Night

CHESTERTON | Road to Life Church will host Light the Night from 7 to 8 p.m. at Centennial Park in downtown Chesterton. There will be live music, a heated baptismal for baptisms and a mountain of candy. This event is weather permitting. Call (269) 208-0829.

Fish Fry

DYER | St. Maria Goretti Church will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. at 500 Northgate Drive. Adult dinners are $12 and include fried or baked fish, roasted potatoes, cabbage casserole, green beans, tater tots and an all-you-can-eat salad bar. Children 6 to 12 years old eat for $6. Their dinner includes chicken nuggets, tater tots and macaroni and cheese and the salad bar. Children under 6 eat free.Dinners include coffee and iced tea. A bake sale and cash bar will be available. All Souls Vespers

WHITING | St. John the Baptist Church will hold an All Souls Vespers evening prayer from 7 to 8 p.m. at 119th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The night will include reading the names of those who have died this year. Call (219) 659-4138.
