JASPER COUNTY | The two children killed Monday night in an Interstate 65 crash were identified Thursday. 

Anusha Chaganti, 14, and Vivek Chaganti, 9, were identified as the children killed in the crash along with their father, Dr. Mallik Chaganti, according to the Jasper County coroner. 

The crash happened Monday night as traffic was slowing because a semi rollover that spilled nitric acid across the road. Indiana State Police said Chaganti was not able to slow his 2008 Toyota Sequoia and hit a Volvo semi in front of him.

A third boy in the car survived the crash, police said. He was taken to a local hospital and later was transported to Loyola University Medical Center.  

The children's mother was traveling to India when the crash happened, said Andrew Boersma, the Jasper County coroner.

The children attended St. Augustine Catholic School in Rensselaer. Chaganti worked at the Clinic of Family Medicine in Rensselaer and was on the staff of Jasper County Hospital.
