RENSSELAER | A Rensselaer man who had been missing for about a week was found dead Monday in Hobart.

Seth Rusk, 26, was found dead at 6:07 p.m. at 2487 80th Ave., according to a release from the Lake County coroner's office. Officials did not release information about how Rusk died or the manner of death.

Rusk had been reported missing April 16, according to a news release from Rensselaer police. His parents told police that Rusk left about 4:30 a.m. April 15 to start a new job in Francesville, Ind., but he never showed up at work.

Police were able to track Rusk's cellphone and discovered it was last used in the Merrillville area.

Police said they obtained information that Rusk's cellphone was used near a cell tower on East 84th Street, which in near the Merrillville and Hobart border. Rusk was not located in that area, and his cellphone was later turned off, police said.

The Hobart Police Department is investigating the death.
