Indiana State Police issued more than 430 traffic citations locally over the weekend as part of a statewide initiative to enforce laws against impaired driving.
ISP Lowell district troopers issued 437 traffic citations and 589 warnings Friday and Saturday nights, according to an agency news release.
Troopers also made 38 impaired driving arrests and removed 23 suspended drivers from the road, while 18 seat belt citations were issued.
Lowell troopers also made 22 criminal arrests throughout the operation, which covered Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Starke and Pulaski counties, the release states.
