WHEATFIELD | Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka" will sweeten the Kankakee Valley High School stage as theĀ  KV Theatre Kompany's fall musical, opening Friday.

Performances are set for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as Nov. 9 and 10 in the KVHS auditorium, 3923 W. Ind. 10.

The musical centers on master candy maker and chocolatier Willy Wonka, who feels it's time to pass on his tradition of bringing delicious joy to the children of the world. He is searching for the best fit, a "good nut," to teach and share his recipes, industry secrets and passion for decadent creations.

Five lucky winners find a golden ticket in the candy wrapper of their Wonka Bar, which grants them entry to a special tour of Wonka's factory. During this tour, Wonka hopes to determine the heir to his candy kingdom. The children are not aware of Wonka's plans, so their true nature is in view throughout the contest.

This Kankakee Valley Theatre Kompany production includes cast members fromĀ Kankakee Valley School Corporation grades 4 through 12.

Junior Jordan Clark portrays Willy Wonka and combines his talented voice with Wonka's quirks in a delightfully fun role. Charlie Bucket is played by middle schooler Nick Skrobul, who is no newcomer to the KV stage.

"Jordan and Nick bring great instincts to the stage. Both young men are very hard working, too. It is very exciting to witness them continue to develop their acting skills and will be even more so watching them shine in front of audiences," said Assistant Director Amy Stepanek.

The talented cast, orchestra and crew will bring the story, full of memorable songs and characters, and complete with technical devices of video, bubble and fog machines, and sound effects, to life in four performances, added Stepanek.

Tickets are $6. To make reservations, email kvtheatrekompany@gmail.com, send a message through facebook to: Willy Wonka-kv or leave a message for director Jill Steiner at (219) 554-9411.
