HAMMOND | The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is holding an open house Thursday about the cleanup of contaminated sediment in a section of the West Branch of the Grand Calumet River.
The event will be held at the Hammond Public Library, 564 State St. EPA and Indiana Department of Environmental Management representatives will talk about the first phase of the cleanup, which is set to begin this month from Columbia Avenue to Calumet Avenue. Topics include transportation routes, air monitoring, fences being installed and the general cleanup process.
