SCHERERVILLE | The Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy said today it will move its Indiana youth academy this month from Griffith to Omni 41 Health & Fitness Connection in Schererville.

The baseball and softball training facility owned by the Chicago White Sox will provide professional, personal and team training for Indiana players age 5 to major league. It will conduct hitting, pitching and fielding instruction starting in mid-November for both baseball and fast-pitch softball players.

"We've been looking for the perfect site for our Indiana operation, and Omni 41 is a special place," said Bobby Morris, Sox Training Academy director. "The additional space along with the addition of some new instructors will make our academy the perfect place to train."

Morris is especially pleased to add Bill Bryk Sr. to the staff, which features Florida Marlins minor league hitting coordinator John Mallee and minor league hitting coach Anthony Iapoce. Bryk serves as special assistant to the San Diego Padres general manager and is one of the top pitching instructors in the area.

The Chicago Bulls/Sox Training Academy opened in 2001 in Lisle, Ill., and runs extensive training programs for boys and girls from beginner to professional. There also are satellite White Sox academies in Tinley Park and LaGrange, Ill.
