CROWN POINT | A Hobart Target employee has been charged with the theft of 16 iPods, a cell phone and a $100 bill.

Alexander Shefts, 19, was charged Thursday after a customer told store officials she saw Shefts pocket the $100 bill after a transaction on Nov. 27, a probable cause affidavit shows.

Store officials took Shefts off the registers to work in the electronics department where video security cameras recorded Shefts removing iPods from locked cases and hiding them before taking them to his car, the court records state.

Taken, authorities say, were 16 iPods valued from $175 to $295 each, a T-Mobile cell phone valued at $275 and the $100 bill.
