FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOPS | Hammond
Purdue University Calumet, 2200 169th St., is offering a series of workshops intended to help adults develop strategies for managing their finances better and maintaining good credit.
The two-hour workshops begin at 6 p.m. and are scheduled Feb. 23, March 2 and March 9 on campus. They are intended particularly for individuals planning to buy a home, supporting a college education or investing in a 401k plan. The workshops will focus on four components: borrowing basics, banking basics, money matters and credit. The Northwest Indiana premiere of William Finn's "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" opens Feb. 26 at the Towle Theater, 5205 Hohman Ave. The production is under the direction of Managing Director Jeff Casey. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. Lafayette St. The benefit is from 6 p.m. to midnight, and includes dinner, dancing, open bar, musical entertainment, raffle tables and a cash 50/50 raffle.
