MUNSTER | The following trips are offered by the Munster Parks and Recreation Department. Registration for all trips is at the parks department office in Munster Town Hall, 1005 Ridge Road. For more information call (219) 836-PARK.

MARCH 19 OR MARCH 26

Where Eagles Soar

One trip two ways - go either by Amtrak or motorcoach to Wabasha, Minn. Stay for two nights at the Plaza Hotel (restaurant, lounge and indoor pool). Each spring hundreds of eagles of all types converge along the Mississippi River. Visit the National Eagle Center, have pictures taken with an eagle and explore the exhibits. Lunch is on your own in downtown before boarding the Mississippi Explorer for an eagle spotting cruise. Then visit the Lark Toy Co. in Kellogg, Minn., where they have baby boomer toys, antique toys and rides on the hand-carved carousel.  Fees are for an Amtrak package (March 19 through March 21):  $599 Single/$479 Double/$459 Triple or Motorcoach Package (March 26 through March 28): $599 Single, $499 Double, $479 Triple.

MARCH 20

Spring Rail Coasting to Mobile, Ala., Biloxi, Miss., and New Orleans

Take the Amtrak's City of New Orleans, a double-decker Superliner, for an overnight to the Crescent City for two nights and days in the French Quarter at Hotel St. Marie. Trip is from March 20 through March 27. Visit its World War II Museum, IMAX Theater, an afternoon of sightseeing, and a brunch with jazz at the Court of Two Sisters. Travel to Mobile Bay and Battleship Memorial Park. Board a Cold Mill Fleet boat for a dolphin watching cruise followed by dinner.  The next two nights will be spent at Perdido Beach Resort of the Gulf to see the Pensacola Naval Air Station, the Blue Angels, National Naval Aviation Museum and Joe Pati Shrimp Co. The next day visit Bellengrath Gardens, and spend the night at the Beau Rivage Casino Resort in Biloxi, Miss. Fees:  $1,699 Single/$1,399 Double/$1,349 Triple. 

SEPT. 12

Copper Canyon Adventure

Start this nine-day trip from Sept. 12 through Sept. 20 with a welcome dinner in Tucson, Ariz.

The next day, cross the Mexican border near Nogales, continue through the Sonora Desert to the Sea of Cortez and your hotel overlooking the marina. Spend time in the cities of San Carlos and El Fuerte, see the Sierra Madre Mountains, a folkloric show and dinner. Next travel on the Chihuahua-Pacifico Railroad through gorges to your hotel resting on the rim of the canyon. Then experience the Tarahumara's culture through dance and a tour of Divisadero.  Next, visit the town of Creel and the Mennonite Museum before going to Chihuahua where you will visit the home of Pancho Villa and the state Capitol building.  Later, cross back over to El Paso and a farewell dinner.  Fees:  $2,649 Single/$2,149 Double/$2,119 Triple. Price includes air and all airport taxes.
