HOMECOMING WEEK | Hammond
Calumet College of St. Joseph hosts its annual homecoming this week. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 with a pep rally in the college’s new athletic facility, on the campus at 2400 New York Ave., followed by a faculty/staff versus student basketball game at 6:25 p.m. The fun continues with the women’s basketball game at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the men’s basketball tip-off at 3 p.m. Activities will culminate with the homecoming dance at 6 p.m. at Dynasty Banquets in Hammond. Tickets for the dance are $20 and must be purchased in advance.

ORGAN CONCERT | Munster
Organist Andrew Kotylo will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave. He has performed throughout the U.S. and England, regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists. He has been twice featured on American Public Media's "Pipedreams."

FISH FRY | Hammond
Hammond Mohwaks, 4040 Calumet Ave., will host a Lenten fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday during Lent beginning Feb. 19. All-you-can-eat pollock costs $9 and is $5 for children ages 11 and younger. Also available is a half-pound shrimp dinner for $10, a frog leg dinner for $9, a smelt dinner for $9 or a combo platter of fish, shrimp and frog legs for $11. All dinners include fries, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, bread, salad and dessert.

American Legion Post 369, 1401 W. Chicago Ave., hosts an Americanism dinner/dance Feb. 20. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner is served at 7 p.m. Donation is $10. There is a cash bar and menu consists of fried chicken, mostaccioli, roast beef, broccoli Normandy, salad, mashed potatoes, bread, butter and coffee. The guest speaker will be the American Legion State Commander Robert Newman.

BOOK DRIVE | Hobart
In honor of Tri Kappa Week and to promote literacy in the community, Hobart's Tri Kappa chapter will be accepting donations of new or gently used children's books Feb. 21 to 27. Encyclopedias, text, reference books or books older than 10 years are not needed. Due to health considerations, books that have been in storage or that have a moldy or musty smell can not be accepted. Books will be donated to local organizations that serve children including Parents as Teachers and local preschools. Tri Kappa will also give each child a free book at Hobart YMCA Healthy Kids Day. The Whiting/Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce and the city of Whiting present Super Sunday Flea 4 All from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Whiting Community Center, 1938 Clark St. The event will feature arts and crafts, city merchants, resident garage sales, food and kids games. The Community Center will also have bowling for a low fee. Admission is free.

The LACARE Art League will meet at 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Howard Branch Library, 7147 Grand Ave. The featured demonstrator will be Tom Torluemke, who works in a variety of media, including mural painting, watercolor and sculpture. Lupus Foundation of America, Indiana Chapter, will host a support group meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 22 and the fourth Monday of each month at St. Mary Medical Center in Conference Room 3-A (first floor, west tower), 1500 S. Lake Park Ave. Meetings are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about lupus, as well as anyone living with a chronic condition. The group allows its members an opportunity for a healthy exchange of feelings, opinions and thoughts while coping with this very complicated illness. St. John Bosco Youth Group offers an all-you-can-eat soup and salad supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays during Lent at St. John Bosco Parish Hall, 7111 Columbia Ave. Suppers are Feb. 24, March 3, March 10, March 17, March 24 and March 31. Menu includes soup, salad, bread and butter, crackers, dessert and beverage. At least three homemade soups will be served each night, one will be without meat.
