HAMMOND | South Shore Dance Alliance will perform Nubian Odyssey, a contemporary dance exploration of the African-American experience, past, present and future, at 8 p.m. Feb. 5 and Feb. 6 at the Towle Theater, 5205 Hohman Ave.
The concert will also feature international tap artist Jumaane Taylor and performance artist Daviné Stewart. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the door or online at www.towletheater.org.
South Shore Dance Alliance is a pre-professional dance company recognized for its soulful and energetic performances featuring talented young dancers, ages 11 through 18, from the Northwest Indiana area. The Alliance is the flagship occupant of the new South Shore Centre for the Arts in Gary's Miller neighborhood. The majority of dancers performing with the company are scholarship recipients of this nonprofit organization, which opens auditions each spring to the entire Northwest Indiana and Chicago area dance community.
