EAST CHICAGO | Local teens will be tuning in at the library in March as the East Chicago Public Library and the School City of East Chicago provide CompassLearning Odyssey during Teen Tech Week.
This year's theme nationally is Learn Create Share @ Your Library.
Teen Tech Week, running from March 7 to 13, is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults.
The initiative wants to ensure teens are competent, ethical users of technologies. It encourages teens to use libraries' nonprint resources for education and recreation, and to recognize librarians as qualified, trusted professionals.
The East Chicago library system hopes to attract a variety of teenagers and increase technology literacy locally by offering CompassLearning Odyssey, a computer-based program that provides interactive, self-paced, challenging and engaging activities.
