Dial-a-ride bus service that disappeared from Griffith almost two years ago is coming back with a helping hand from the Regional Bus Authority and the town of Griffith.

Both are helping fund the expansion of South Lake Community Services Inc. dial-a-ride bus service, which now serves several townships in Lake County. The town has been without the service since Northwest Indiana Community Action Corp. dissolved its bus service almost two years ago.

Requests for the bus service, more formally known as demand response, can be made by calling the EasyGo call center at least 48 hours in advance at 877-5easygo, which is (877) 532-7946. Riders can call as much as two weeks in advance and are advised to do so if possible, as space is limited.

The service operates weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fare is $3.25 for seniors and $5.25 for others.
