MUNSTER | The Munster Goes Red event, part of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement, will begin at 11 a.m. today at Franciscan Physicians Hospital, 701 Superior Ave.
The event will feature free cardiovascular screenings, presentations from doctors and heart disease survivor Cynthia Williams, a Schererville resident. The event is free, and no tickets are required.
Williams survived heart disease earlier this year just two weeks after delivering her child. Exhaustion and painful coughing sent her to the emergency room where an X-ray revealed a collapsed lung. That discovery led to another -- Cynthia had congestive heart failure that required emergency surgery.
