MERRILLLVILLE — The Merrillville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 168 joined with faculty from Merrillville Intermediate School to provide MIS students with two days of activities. The event was organized by fifth-grade teacher Melissa Cannon and assistant principal Sean Hudson, with help from FOP member Mike Bunnell.

Students interacted with and enjoyed activities alongside some of Merrillville’s finest while participating in events ranging from a dunk tank and pie eating contests to a tug of war and a meet and greet with K9 Officer Matt Vasel and his partner, Jack.

Aimed at establishing and strengthening relationships between the children, the community and law enforcement, more than a dozen members from Merrillville’s FOP lodge volunteered their time to participate.
