SCHERERVILLE | Police are investigating an armed robbery reported Friday afternoon at a Schererville business.

Two employees working at Check Into Cash, 1114 W. U.S. 30, called 911 about 1:50 p.m. and told police the business had just been robbed, Schererville Detective Cmdr. Peggi Calderaro said.

One employee told police she was talking on the phone while another employee was in the back counting money when two men walked in. The shorter man had a gun in his hand pointed at the ground, and the taller man ordered the employees to the floor, Calderaro said.

Employees told police the robbers took an unknown amount of money and fled.

One suspect is described as a black man about 6-foot-1, between 170 and 200 pounds and wearing a tan coat. The second suspect is described as a black man between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9, about 150 pounds and wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt. The employees provided no vehicle description.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department helicopter aided in the search for the suspects.
