Methodist Hospitals is offering free health screenings including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, body fat analysis, bone density, oximetry and PSA screening from 9 a.m. to noon today at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 8000 Madison St. In addition to the free screenings, many of the hospital services will be represented by health care professionals with free literature and giveaways. Purdue Alumni Club is partnering with Indiana Blood Center to host a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today in the bloodmobile parked at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2500 Southlake Mall Road. Crown Point's office of special events and Source One Real Estate are conducting a holiday food drive to benefit Northwest Indiana food pantries. Nonperishable food donations can be brought from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Nov. 8 to the Crown Point Source One Real Estate office, 855 E. North St. Crown Point Cares is a committee of local professionals, residents and volunteers created to assist Northwest Indiana residents by channeling food, clothes, house wares and furniture to those in need through charitable organizations and does not accept money.

HEALTH FAIR | Munster
Free cardiovascular screenings and more will be offered during a Health Fair scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Franciscan Physicians Hospital, 701 Superior Ave. Screenings will take place near the pre-op and catheterization labs and will include blood pressure, lipid profile, body mass index, glucose, electrocardiogram, abdominal aortic aneurysm, flash echo and carotid quick screening. Doctors will discuss findings with visitors. Hilton Hudson, MD, cardiothoracic surgeon, will speak about cardiovascular disease. Register at the Welcome Center to receive paperwork and verify screening times. Educational lectures on heart disease, heart health, vascular disease, aortic aneurysm, peripheral vascular disease and stroke awareness-management will be offered throughout the day. Refreshments and giveaways will be available. Persons wishing a lipid profile, glucose or aortic aneurysm screening must fast a minimum of six hours.

PUC HOMECOMING | Hammond
Purdue University Calumet alumni will celebrate homecoming today with a reception, campus tours and a basketball double-header. A free reception for alumni and their families will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Calumet Conference Center at the far south end of campus, accessible south of 173rd Street. Hors d'oeuvres and an open bar will be provided. Campus bus tours are scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. PUC's women's and men's basketball teams will be in action - the women's team hosts Spring Arbor University at 2 p.m., followed at 4 by the men's game vs. rival Indiana University Northwest. During half-time, 1988 alumna Dori Downing will receive the PUC Bob Hayes Athletic Alumni Award. Members of the PUC Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2009-10 will be introduced: Bob Hayes, Ed Blackmon, Lee Ann DeYoung, Larry Liddle and Rod Weingart .
