HIGHLAND | The Highland Special Events Committee held officer elections for 2010 at their Jan. 14 meeting.
President for 2010 is John Breslin, who served as vice president last year.
Breslin has held the office of president several times in the past. Vice President is Laurel Roach. Returning as second Vice President-Financial Officer is Karen Ziants, and as secretary is Brandon Wolak.
The Highland Special Events Committee is responsible for many events in Highland. Memorial Day, the Fourth of July Festival including the food, crafts, entertainment and rides at Main Square Park, the twilight and kiddie parades, the fireworks, the 18th century "Battle on the Ridge" and the Christmas parade featuring Santa Claus.
As this year is Highland's centennial, several other events are being planned for inclusion in the calendar.

The committee meets the second Thursday of the month at Town Hall with an additional meeting on the fourth Thursday of June to finalize preparations for the Fourth of July festival.
