The Kennedy Avenue ramps to the eastbound Borman Expressway reopened just before 1 p.m. Wednesday after being closed for nearly three hours when a truck lost tires nearby.
Indiana State Police said the 2007 Peterbilt was eastbound on the Borman in the right lane just east of Kennedy when a car pulled in front of it, forcing the driver to slam on his brakes.
Larry E. Hahn, 40, of Lake Cedar, Texas, who was driving the semi, said the box trailer he was pulling hit the ground and the rear tandem tires of the trailer broke free, landing in the right center lane of the four-lane expressway.
No vehicles hit the tires and no one was injured in the incident, police said.
The right two lanes were closed for about an hour to remove the tires and move the trailer to the shoulder. All lanes were reopened by 9:30 a.m.
The trailer, which is owned by Knight Transportation of Noblesville, was loaded with 40,000 pounds of body wash.
Police closed the northbound and southbound ramps of Kennedy Avenue to the Borman Expressway as crews worked to off-load the trailer.
A motor carrier inspector from the Indiana State Police commercial vehicle enforcement division responded to the scene to inspect the trailer as well, police said.
