CROWN POINT | A Crown Point woman was arrested early Sunday after firing a handgun during a heated argument, police said Monday.
Nobody was hit by the shot. The woman, 22, told officers it was a warning shot, police said.
Charges of criminal recklessness were expected to be filed late Monday against the woman, police said. Her name was withheld pending formal charges.
Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Sherwood Drive about 3 a.m. on a report of shots fired. The caller told police he and his sister argued and she then discharged a firearm at him in the house.
Officers circled the house after hearing loud arguing inside, police said. The caller, his mother and his son came out of the house and were escorted away, police said.
The caller's sister came out and was handcuffed. She told officers she'd fired a warning shot because of previous occurrences with her brother, police said.
A 9 mm semi-automatic handgun was located on a nightstand in the woman's bedroom, police said.
