CEDAR LAKE | The Town Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance amending nonresidential ambulance transport rates.
The Cedar Lake council raised mileage rates per transport to 14 cents a mile for residents and 17 cents a mile for nonresidents. The fee charged for treatment without transport was reduced to $100 for residents and $150 for nonresidents.
Officials also decided to eliminate a $10 fee for oxygen, since the fee is rarely covered by insurance, Clerk-Treasurer Amy Gross said.
The ordinance was approved on first reading in December.
The council first looked at raising fees for nonresidents in September. Before council action, residents and nonresidents paid the same rate for ambulance service.
