CROWN POINT | Prosecutors have charged a Cedar Lake man in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old after a party the girl attended with family members.
Wyatt Squyres, 23, is charged with rape and three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
According to court records, the girl's mother told police the teen was raped at a party she attended with her older brother and sister in Lowell.
The girl admitted to consuming some beer and alcohol but told police she was fully aware of what was going on around her.
Court records state sometime between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Nov. 24, she went to a camper outside the residence to go to sleep. She found Squyres in the bed she was supposed to sleep in, but Squyres told her he had no other place to go so she let him stay, court records state.
The girl awoke about 4:30 a.m. to find Squyres raping her, got up and had someone drive her home.
Court records state Squyres admitted the assault, saying he was intoxicated, knew what he did was wrong and was remorseful.
