HAMMOND | A Cedar Lake man who admitted to a role in a region heroin dealing ring has been sentenced to about eight years in federal prison.

Ryan Douglas, 31, was among 19 people indicted in Hammond federal court in 2011 after federal prosecutors alleged they were part of an operation that intended to distribute more than a kilogram of heroin between 2006 and early 2011.

He was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court, Hammond, to 100 months in prison and five years of court supervision following his release, court records show.

Others pleading guilty in the case have included Eldridge "Kasper" Bogan, Amanda Copeland, Marcus "Moe" McCant, Myles Ramirez and Andrew "Blue" Powell.
