CEDAR LAKE | Holy Name Parish is growing and needs more parking.
The parish’s representatives unveiled a site plan for a new parking area during the Plan Commission’s study session Wednesday. The new parking area will be completed in two phases and be situated in the area where the grotto is now.
The grotto will be moved closer to the rectory, said church representative Wayne Stoll.
The base of the new parking lot could be in place before March. Once the base is put in, the area will be blacktopped. Drainage from the parking lot will be directed to the stormwater retention area in back of the cemetery
“(The Rev. Ed Tlucek) has done miraculous stuff there in building the congregation,” said Councilman Robert Carnahan.
Holy Name, 11000 W. 133rd Ave., has also made lots of food donations to Project Love Pantry, he said.
