CROWN POINT | A 23-year-old Cedar Lake man, already facing murder and arson charges in the death of his next door neighbor, was charged Tuesday with sexual misconduct with a minor.
A probable cause affidavit alleges Anthony LaPorta admitted to having sex with a 15-year-old girl who spent the night at his home.
The girl told police she on June 20 accompanied a girl and the girl's boyfriend to the home the man shared with LaPorta and a third roommate.
About 2 a.m., after watching movies, playing video games and listening to music, the girl, who had been drinking vodka and cranberry juice, went to LaPorta's room, the affidavit states.
The girl told police the couple talked until she rolled over to go to sleep and then became aware of LaPorta on top of her.
The girl told LaPorta to stop, but LaPorta became angry and did not stop until she started to cry, the affidavit states.
In a statement to police, LaPorta is alleged to have told police he went to his room to go to sleep, followed by the girl with whom he had sex until he started to sober up and realized what he was doing.
LaPorta is charged with two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in connection with the incident.
Earlier this month, LaPorta was charged with murder, burglary and arson in the stabbing of a neighbor, Adam Giordano. LaPorta is accused of killing Giordano during a robbery and setting Giordano's house on fire.
