CEDAR LAKE | The developers of the Monestary Woods development have changed their marketing concept, and the Plan Commission and Town Council have signed off on the new proposal.
The company has decided to build one-floor patio homes rather than townhouses. To do that, the developer needed a zoning change from RM to R-2 as well as a new site plan.
The company will be building 48 patio homes instead of 66 townhouses because the market for single unit, one-level homes is more desirable, representative Richard Anderson said.
Monastery’s original townhouse plan was for 1,700 square feet per unit. The patio homes could be anywhere from 1,400 to 1,800 square feet. They also come with garages and buyers will have the option of adding a Florida room.
The homes will be single, unconnected units, and prices are estimated at between $185,000-$220,000 per unit.
Because they are part of the Monastery Association, the homes will be maintenance-free.
