CEDAR LAKE | Engineers for the 133rd Avenue widening projects say the road will be open throughout the summer while work is being done.
Cedar Lake's main thoroughfare will be open to two-way traffic during construction, Mark Kaiser of Christopher Burke Engineering said.
The only road closure will be for about five days and will occur when Norfolk Southern works on its tracks across 133rd Avenue. Kaiser said he did not have a date for when that five-day closure will occur.
The second phase of the widening project runs from where the first one left off, at Industrial Drive. It will widen the remainder of the road to U.S. 41. The road will be widened about 12 feet in each direction, with a 14-foot turning lane in the center.
Curbs and sidewalks will be installed, and the town’s water line extended to just west of Wicker Avenue.
