To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 on or before Aug. 1, 2014, and legally reside within the school corporation boundaries.
Registration forms are available at www.hanover.k12.in.us and at the Hanover Administration Building and Lincoln Elementary School between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. All registration forms should be completed and presented at registration.
Also at registration, parents/guardians must present a valid Indiana Driver’s License or State ID showing their current address; mortgage papers, current payment book, or a lease/rental agreement; and two additional proofs of residency showing parent’s current address, including a current NIPSCO bill, water bill, home telephone bill, cable bill, or insurance bill, pay stub, or bank statement; child’s original legal (not hospital) birth certificate; current immunization records of the prospective student; and, in the case of a divorce or separation, a copy of the most recent custody papers.
If a family is in the process of moving into the school district, a letter from the real estate agent or builder is required, including the anticipated closing date.
Prospective kindergarten students must accompany their parents to registration to undergo a general kindergarten screening.
By the first day of school, parents should provide written proof that their child is up-to-date on all immunizations. Medical forms will be available at registration and at www.hanover.k12.in.us.
The Lake County Health Department in Crown Point does offer free immunizations to residents. Call the health department at (219) 755-3658 with questions.
