CEDAR LAKE | The town will use community development block grant money to rehab the bathrooms in the town complex.
During a special public meeting held before its study session last week, the Town Council approved a plan for the CDBG money, which must be spent according to federal guidelines.
CDBG funds are provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered at the county level.
The funds are meant to be spent along specifications outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act, or in parts of town where incomes are lower than the town average.
Communities frequently use CDBG money to install sidewalk curb cuts or ramps for the disabled.
The project chosen by the town involves rehabbing Town Complex bathrooms so that they are accessible to the disabled.
The town will allocate $57,450 in CDBG money for the project.
