CEDAR LAKE | The town has made cuts all around to trim more than $200,000 from its 2013 budget, Cedar Lake officials said.
The Cedar Lake Town Council took action to approve the cuts during a recent meeting.
According to figures released by the town, the biggest cuts came from the categories of personal services, materials/supplies, capital outlay and miscellaneous services.
About $1,700 was cut from the Town Council’s appropriation and $30,000 from the town attorney’s budget. About $2,000 was cut from the town equipment fund and $1,000 from the money the clerk -treasurer appropriated for instruction and training.
All department heads took part in the effort to trim expenses, town officials said. The Cedar Lake Police Department cut $63,000 from its budget, including $1,000 for longevity pay. Public Works cut $8,000 and the clerk-treasurer $6,109, officials said.
