CEDAR LAKE | Christian churches throughout Cedar Lake have teamed up to present a free outdoor concert open to young people and families from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
“Let Your Light Shine” is the theme of the second annual Christian music festival held at Franciscan Monastery Lourdes Friary, 12907 Parrish Ave. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Food vendors will also be available.
In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to nearby Hanover Central High School.
While the concert features a variety of musical styles, all of the artists performing at the event have a passion to share their faith through song. Relentless Pursuit is a praise band of younger artists from The Gathering Place Worship Center in Roselawn. JUSTUS is a Christian hip-hop artist from Chicago who uses rap to tell his tale of transformation through Christ.
Lexi Elisha headlines the event. With a new album and a fast-growing following, Elisha is known for having one of the most entertaining and energetic live shows in Christian music.
Event chairperson Barry Cummins said the planning committee has worked hard to create a positive event of fellowship, faith and fun, with the artists providing the soundtrack. “We hope those in attendance feel like they’re in their backyard with friends and some very talented musicians showed up,” he said.
“Families today are looking for positive influences for their children, and this event supports that.”
