CEDAR LAKE | Police found cocaine and marijuana Saturday when they caught up a Cedar Lake man who fled from them on his bicycle, officials said.
Tony Dittrich, 29, was arrested on charges of felony possession of cocaine, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication and possession of marijuana, police said.
A Cedar Lake police officer stopped Dittrich at 1:30 a.m. Saturday while he was pushing his bicycle on 131st Place. Dittrich, who lives in the 12900 block of Morse Street, told the officer he had been drinking and was trying to get home, according to a statement from Cedar Lake Police Chief Randall Mayersky.
Dittrich said “you're not stopping me” and fled on his bicycle as the police officer got out of his vehicle, police said. Shortly after, Dittrich was found hiding in the woods near the 6900 block of 131st Place.
The officer found a cigarette box nearby containing cigarettes and a plastic bag with a white rock substance that tested positive for cocaine, police said. Another bag — containing marijuana — was found in the suspect's pockets, police said.
