CEDAR LAKE | Charges were filed this week against four people in connection with a Cedar Lake burglary and auto theft.

Police said Wyatt Ivey, 20, of Kouts, is charged with burglary and auto theft; Kolton Koszczymski, 22, of Crown Point, with burglary and criminal trespass; Amber Maul, 27, of Cedar Lake, with criminal trespass and possession of paraphernalia; and David Allen, 24, of Cedar Lake, with receiving stolen property, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

Police responded to the 7100 block of 137th Place on Jan. 1 regarding a 1997 Mercury Marquis which had been reported stolen earlier in the day, Detective Cmdr. Carl Brittingham said.

Officers took Ivey, Koszczymski and Maul into custody. Police said additional investigation indicated Ivey and Koszczymski were involved in a burglary that same day in the same block.

Brittingham said police searched Allen’s trailer in the 11600 block of West 126th and recovered items taken in the burglary. During the search, drug paraphernalia was also found, police said.
