CEDAR LAKE | Jane Ball Elementary School sponsored a Dr. Seuss Literacy Night for parents and students on Monday, March 4. Over 200 parents and students enjoyed the Dr. Seuss themed activities.
Each grade level selected a Dr. Seuss book and created activities around that book. Kindergarten and first grade selected “Cat in the Hat.” The kindergarten students made Thing 1 and Thing 2 while the first grade students made masks. The second grade teachers challenged their students to make their own version of “There’s a Wocket in My Pocket.” “ Thidwick the Big Hearted Moose” provided the theme for the third grade students. They made moose. The fourth grade students made binoculars to correlate with “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” The fifth grade students enjoyed the story “The Lorax” and made a mustache out of yarn.
All of the parents attended a parent information meeting featuring tips on how to encourage reading. The power point was presented by Mrs. Casey Wszolek, the Jane Ball Literacy Coach, and Mrs. Teri Crussen, the Jane Ball Principal.
Everyone had a wonderful time at the Dr. Seuss Literacy Night!
