HANOVER TOWNSHIP | A 52-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday on 109th Avenue near St. John.
Christopher Reynoso, of Evergreen Park, died at 12:45 p.m. at 13506 W. 109th Ave., according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office. He died from blunt force trauma.
Martha Bisacchi, 58, of Lake Village, was driving a 2009 Toyota Sienna west on 109th just before noon when the van began going onto the side of the road, said Patti Van Til, spokeswoman for the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
Bisacchi over-corrected and crossed the center line into the left side of the road, Van Til said. Her left side tires went off the road, which caused Bisacchi to over-correct again and go back onto the right side of the road.
Reynoso, who was driving a 1979 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was heading east and struck the Toyota between the right front-end tire and the passenger's door. The impact of the crash caused Reynoso to be pushed backward and land on the ground.
He died at the scene, Van Til said. Bisacchi was taken Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point with minor injuries.
Officers are continuing to investigate what initially caused Bisacchi's vehicle to nearly go off the side of the road.
