CEDAR LAKE | The Junior Wildcats are looking for a new home, but the town property they’ve been eying is unlikely to become available any time soon.
The 14 acres at 155th and Parrish Avenue is reserved for the lake dredging and cleanup project currently being planned, officials told Wildcat representative Brian Denoff during last week's Town Council meeting.
Town Manager Ian Nicolini was told to look into whether a portion of that property can be used, but “that’s about the best we can do,” Town Council President Randy Niemeyer said.
The council did voice support for the Junior Wildcats football program.
“I don’t want to be in the position next year where we have no place to practice or play,” Denoff said. The Wildcats have so far been able to use space at the Cedar Lake Bible Conference Center, but the center is looking to expand, Denoff said.
Junior Wildcats officials will continue to look for property where they can play, practice, and eventually build a concession stand and a parking lot, he said.
