CROWN POINT | A court hearing has been continued for a former Hanover Central High School teacher accused of taking students to a strip club and giving them alcohol.
Travis Lechien, 32, of Crown Point, is charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Lechien did not appear Tuesday in Lake Superior Court. He was represented by his attorney, Rich Wolter.
The case has been continued until 9 a.m. Jan. 21 before Judge Julie Cantrell. Lechien has pleaded not guilty in the case.
Wolter said he is in the process of exchanging discovery in the case, and he expects to do one or two depositions.
Lechien is accused of taking students to a strip club and giving them alcoholic beverages at his home. He was suspended with pay Sept. 10 following school administrators' investigation of the incident. The Hanover School Board fired the chemistry teacher Oct. 22.
All of the charges are Class A misdemeanors, which are punishable by up to one year in prison.
