CEDAR LAKE | At a Friday night meeting that lasted barely 30 seconds, the Hanover School Board approved a motion accepting Superintendent Carol Kaiser’s resignation.
In the same motion, the board also approved a severance agreement.
The board’s approval is contingent on Kaiser’s signature.
Board attorney William Kaminski would not comment as to what the agreement contains. He also declined to provide any other details on Kaiser or whether the district has obtained her signature.
Kaiser did not attend the meeting, and trustees declined to comment after the meeting.
Kaiser had been on paid administrative leave through December, and trustees voted earlier this month to keep her there until the January board meeting. Friday’s meeting was specially scheduled.
The board will see some turnover in January. Mary Pat Burkel will take Pat Kocot’s seat, and Dennis Wilkening will replace Dana Griner.
Kaiser had been superintendent since Nov. 1, 2008. She recently has signed a new, three-year contract that set her pay at $144,010 annually plus benefits. The contract had been set to end June 30, 2015.
Richard Cook is serving as interim superintendent.
