CEDAR LAKE | The Hanover School Board will meet in a special session Thursday to appoint an interim superintendent.
The appointee will replace Richard Cook, who has been filling in on a part-time basis. Cook has a financial background and has worked with the district in the past, School Board President Mary Joan Dickson said.
But he has no school superintendent’s license and only works three days a week.
“We want someone who can work five days a week,” Dickson said.
The meeting is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the school’s administrative offices in Cedar Lake.
The person the board appoints will have a contract through June 1. The individual, whom Dickson did not name, also may be considered as a permanent hire as the board works through the process.
If the board decides to seek additional candidates, it will begin advertising for them May 1.
The board accepted former Superintendent Carol Kaiser’s resignation Dec. 28. Kaiser had been on paid administrative leave through December, the same month Cook was appointed interim superintendent.
