CEDAR LAKE | The Hanover Community School Corp. board approved major purchases Tuesday night, including maintenance equipment and scoreboards for each football field.
The money comes from the 2008 construction fund, which has paid for several construction projects throughout the district. Hanover Superintendent Tom Taylor asked for $121,755 to purchase several mowers and maintenance vehicles.
A $121,391 request will purchase a scoreboard for the middle school athletic field, fencing around the track, electricity and a well at the field. An additional $40,000 will go toward a sound system and scoreboard at the high school athletic field.
The new purchases will make the middle school field in particular functional, Taylor said.
At the same meeting, the board approved a $5,000 stipend for Isabella Pennybacker, the district's food service director, to supervise the concession stands at the middle and high schools this year.
In addition to her supervisory role Pennybacker will submit a report on how to best organize and operate concession activities, Taylor said.
