CEDAR LAKE | Hanover Community School Corp. began its official search for a new superintendent this month.
Ads for the position were posted April 5, interim Superintendent James Thorne told the School Board at Tuesday's meeting. Thorne has accepted a position as executive director of the DuPage Area Occupational Education System in Addison, Ill., beginning July 1.
Thorne called the DuPage position a “unique opportunity” and one he was eager to pursue. Thorne will continue as interim superintendent for the term of his contract, which ends June 1. He said he will work for a “smooth transition,” and work with the district “to get something else on board.”
The district has been without a permanent superintendent since Carol Kaiser resigned in December. Thorne replaced Richard Cook, who served as interim superintendent immediately after Kaiser resigned.
