CEDAR LAKE | This month's Daddy/Daughter Dance hosted by the Cedar Lake Parks and Recreation Department was a hit as youngsters and their fathers enjoyed Hula Hoop Contests, Dance Contests and crafts. "The Candy Bar was very popular, as guests enjoyed a variety of candies," said Recreation Director Mary Joan Dickson.

Mother and Son Western Stomp
Mothers and sons are invited to a wild western adventure. Country dancing, horse racing, roping cattle, crafts and refreshments will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at The Clubhouse, 9800 W. 129th Ave. Children 5 to 12 are invited to participate in this event with their Mom. The cost is $5 per participant and the registration deadline is today.
Family Pirate Party
The whole family is invited to walk the plank and plunge into an evening of pirate fun from 6 to 8 p.m. March 2 at The Clubhouse. The cost is $5 per participant and the registration deadline is Feb. 27.
Annual Gold Hunt
Patty the Leprechaun will greet children for the Annual Gold Hunt Each at 10:30 a.m. March 16 in the Hanover Central High School East Gym, 10100 W. 133rd Ave. Participants 12 and younger will each receive a bag to collect their gold. All gold can be exchanged for St. Patrick's Day favors and treats. There is no cost to join the fun.
Teen Night Egg Hunt
Youths 11 to 16 are invited to enjoy pizza and an egg hunt. Dress for the weather, and bring a bag and flashlight for this evening adventure. This Egg Hunt will be held on Friday, March 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. March 22 at The Clubhouse. The cost is $5.
Breakfast with the Bunny
Hop on down the bunny trail for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, a family event. Enjoy a meal, crafts and games and meet the Cedar Lake Kiwanis members from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 23 at Holy Name Gym, 13209 Schneider St. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos, so have your cameras ready. Cost is $5 per guest.
Easter Egg Hunt
Grab your basket and hop on down to the Annual Egg Hunt. Children are invited to hunt for eggs. A few lucky hunters will find “gold eggs” that can be redeemed for prizes. The Egg Hunt will be held at noon (sharp) March 23 at Holy Name Church's north field, 13209 Schneider St. In case of inclement weather, the event will move indoors to the gym. Open to children 12 and younger, this program is free.
