For 20 years, Peoples Bank has provided a holiday season to remember for hundreds of Boys & Girls Clubs’ members. Each year, employees of Peoples Bank raise money through fun events to benefit youth who might not otherwise receive presents for Christmas.
“Peoples Bank employees are very creative in raising funds for our organization,” Megan Henning, marketing manager at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana, said. Employees of the bank collect dollars by hosting football and basketball pools, sponsoring casual dress days, and holding bingo games. Each event is sponsored by a bank department such as the Loan Marketing or Trust departments.
Each dollar raised by employees is matched by the bank. This year, $10,000 was raised by employees. What is unique about Peoples Bank giving is that in addition to a toy item, each club member also is given a new winter coat, gloves, hats, and clothing.
This year, 60 club members were given lasting memories through the generosity of Peoples Bank and its employees. “We count on Peoples Bank’s generosity each year,” Henning added. “Without their support, we would have club members who would not have a Christmas at all.”
In addition to sponsoring youth during the holidays, Peoples Bank also sponsors the Tolleston Project and encourages employees to volunteer at the clubs.
