CEDAR LAKE | The fifth grade students at Jane Ball and Lincoln Elementary Schools attended a special etiquette class to prepare them for their 5th grade luncheon.
Students learned to wait for everyone to be served before beginning any part of the meal, to keep their elbows off of the table, and to not talk with their mouths full. Students were served a roll and butter to practice the proper way to eat bread. All of the students placed their rolls on the bread plate, broke off a small piece of the roll, and buttered that small piece. They also practiced eating soup with bowls filled with lemonade. They also learned to always pass salt and pepper together and use a new plate for each trip to the buffet line. Students learned that table manners play an important part in making a favorable impression.
The luncheon was held at Great Oaks Banquet Hall in Cedar Lake on May 17. The fifth grade students from Lincoln and Jane Ball Elementary Schools played a few games to get to know one another before enjoying a lunch of chicken, salad, mashed potatoes, and rolls.
The Jane Ball students also had a social that evening at the school. Students had an opportunity to show off their dance moves and talk with their friends. Thank you to the Jane Ball PTO and all of the parents who volunteered their time to make all of these events a great success!
